The tropospheric gas composition of Jupiter's north equatorial belt /NH3, PH3, CH3D, GeH4, H2O/ and the Jovian D/H isotopic ratio
Virgil G. Kunde,Rudolf A. Hanel,William C. Maguire,D. Gautier,J. P. Baluteau,A. Marten,Alain Chédin,N. Husson,N. Scott +8 more
TL;DR: The gas composition of the troposphere of Jupiter in the clearest regions of the North Equatorial Belt (NEB) was derived from the Voyager 1 IRIS data.
Journal ArticleDOI
The C/H ratio in Jupiter from the Voyager infrared investigation
D. Gautier,Bruno Bézard,A. Marten,J. P. Baluteau,N. Scott,Alain Chédin,V. G. Kunde,Rudolf A. Hanel +7 more
TL;DR: From a selection of Voyager IRIS spectra corresponding to cloud-free areas of Jupiter, this paper determined the CH/sub 4/H/sub 2/ volume ratio in the atmosphere of this planet as equal to (1.95 +- 0.22)10/sup -3/ which corresponds to 2.07 + 0.24 times the solar value of Lambert (C/H = 4.7 x 10/sup −4/).

About unidentified features in the Voyager far infrared spectra of Jupiter and Saturn
TL;DR: Two spectral features are visible in Jupiter's spectra recorded during the infrared interferometer experiment aboard the two spacecraft of the Voyager mission as mentioned in this paper, which are located at the frequencies of the S(0) and S(1) pressure induced rotation lines of the free H2 molecule, and are superimposed over the absorption spectrum induced by collisions between H2−H2 and H2-He molecules.
