Journal ArticleDOI
C4H2, HC3N and C2N2 in Titan's atmosphere
Virgil G. Kunde,A. C. Aikin,Rudolf A. Hanel,D. E. Jennings,William C. Maguire,Robert E. Samuelson +5 more
TL;DR: Voyager 1 took IR measurements of the atmosphere of Titan, and obtained an average of 346 spectra, mostly from the center of the disk as discussed by the authors, and detected C4H2, HC3N, and C2N2.
Journal ArticleDOI
The composition of Titan's stratosphere from Cassini/CIRS mid-infrared spectra
Athena Coustenis,Richard K. Achterberg,Barney J. Conrath,Donald E. Jennings,A. Marten,Daniel Gautier,Conor A. Nixon,F. Michael Flasar,Nicholas A Teanby,Bruno Bézard,Robert E. Samuelson,Robert E. Samuelson,Ronald Carlson,Emmanuel Lellouch,Gordon L. Bjoraker,Paul N. Romani,Fredric W. Taylor,Patrick G. J. Irwin,Thierry Fouchet,Augustin Hubert,Glenn S. Orton,Virgil G. Kunde,Sandrine Vinatier,Jacqueline Mondellini,Mian M. Abbas,Regis Courtin +25 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors analyzed data recorded by the Composite Infrared Spectrometer (CIRS) aboard the Cassini spacecraft during the Titan flybys T0-T10 (July 2004-January 2006).
Journal ArticleDOI
Investigation of the Martian environment by infrared spectroscopy on Mariner 9
Rudolf A. Hanel,Barney J. Conrath,W. A. Hovis,Virgil G. Kunde,Paul D. Lowman,William C. Maguire,John C. Pearl,J. A. Pirraglia,C. Prabhakara,B. Schlachman,G. V. Levin,P. Straat,T. E. Burke +12 more
TL;DR: In this article, spectral features due to the atmospheric dust storm indicate that large diurnal variations in atmospheric temperature existed up to at least 30 km; winds inferred from the temperature fields show a strong tidal component and significant ageostrophic behavior.
Journal ArticleDOI
Estimation of sea surface temperature from remote sensing in the 11- to 13-μm window region
TL;DR: In this paper, three channels in the 775-to 960-cm−1 (12.9-10.5 μm) region were used to measure the sea surface temperature (SST) over cloud-free oceans.
Journal ArticleDOI
Identification of gaseous SO2 and new upper limits for other gases on Io
John C. Pearl,Rudolf A. Hanel,Virgil G. Kunde,William C. Maguire,K. Fox,S. K. Gupta,Cyril Ponnamperuma,F. Raulin +7 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the identification of gaseous sulfur dioxide on Io by Voyager 1 is reported, and preliminary upper limits for other atmospheric gases are presented, with a depletion of hydrogen, carbon and nitrogen.
