Journal ArticleDOI
Silicon drift chambers - first results and optimum processing of signals
TL;DR: In this paper, a Semiconductor Drift Chamber was produced and tested, and the performance of the test chamber was described and the signal processing to obtain the best position resolution was discussed.
Journal ArticleDOI
Progress in semiconductor drift detectors
Pavel Rehak,J.T. Walton,Emillo Gatti,Antonio Francesco Longoni,Marco Sanpietro,Josef Kemmer,Hans Dietl,Peter Holl,R. Klanner,Gerhard Lutz,A. Wylie,Hubert Becker +11 more
TL;DR: In this article, progress in testing semiconductor drift detectors is reported, and it is shown that they are becoming versatile and reliable detectors for position and energy measurements, mainly due to new electronics better matched to different detectors.
Journal ArticleDOI
Measurement of the ionization of slow silicon nuclei in silicon for the calibration of a silicon dark-matter detector.
G. Gerbier,E. Lesquoy,J. Rich,M. Spiro,Charling Tao,D. Yvon,S. Zylberajch,Delbourgo P,Haouat G,Humeau C,F.S. Goulding,D.A. Landis,Norman W. Madden,Alan R. Smith,J.T. Walton,D. O. Caldwell,B. Magnusson,Michael S. Witherell,Bernard Sadoulet,Da Silva A +19 more
TL;DR: The results are in rather good agreement with the calculations of Lindhard, Scharff, and Schiott and demonstrate the interest of Si(Li) detectors for dark-matter searches.
Journal ArticleDOI
Semiconductor Drift Chambers
Emilio Gatti,Pavel Rehak,Antonio Francesco Longoni,J. Kemmer,Peter Holl,R. Klanner,Gerhard Lutz,A. Wylie,F.S. Goulding,Paul N. Luke,Norman W. Madden,J.T. Walton +11 more
TL;DR: Semiconductor drift chambers for position and energy measurements have been invented, built and tested as mentioned in this paper, and a short 'Ccount is here given on the principles of the drift chamber and on the experimental results.
Journal ArticleDOI
Si(Li) detectors with thin dead layers for low energy X-ray detection
TL;DR: In this article, the authors compared Si(Li) detectors fabricated with Au and Pd entrance-window electrodes and found that Si detectors with Pd electrodes exhibit consistently thinner effective Si dead layers than those with Au electrodes.
