An anomalous higher-order topological insulator
TL;DR: In this article, the authors show that anomalous topological phases can exist even if the system is static, and provide an example of such behavior using a two-dimensional model with topological corner charges, which opens up the possibility of studying anomalous phases without the inherent difficulties associated with time-periodic changes of a material.
Journal ArticleDOI
Orbital ordering in a two-dimensional triangular lattice
TL;DR: In this paper, the role of orbital ordering in a two-dimensional triangular lattice is discussed, and the authors show that a peculiar type of orbital order can remove this frustration if we allow for orbital degeneracy.
Journal ArticleDOI
Experimental realization of type-II Weyl state in noncentrosymmetric TaIrTe 4
Erik Haubold,K. Koepernik,D. V. Efremov,Seunghyun Khim,Alexander Fedorov,Yevhen Kushnirenko,J. van den Brink,Sabine Wurmehl,Bernd Büchner,Timur K. Kim,Moritz Hoesch,Kazuki Sumida,Kazuaki Taguchi,Tomoki Yoshikawa,Akio Kimura,Taichi Okuda,Sergey Borisenko +16 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors present experimental evidence for a type-II noncentrosymmetric Weyl semimetal with spin polarization in the direction along the Fermi arcs connecting four Weyl points.
Journal ArticleDOI
Ba 2 YIrO 6 : A cubic double perovskite material with Ir 5 + ions
T. Dey,A. Maljuk,D. V. Efremov,Olga N. Kataeva,Olga N. Kataeva,Olga N. Kataeva,S. Gass,Christian G. F. Blum,Frank Steckel,D. Gruner,Tobias Ritschel,Anja U. B. Wolter,Jochen Geck,Christian Hess,Christian Hess,K. Koepernik,J. van den Brink,J. van den Brink,Sabine Wurmehl,Sabine Wurmehl,Bernd Büchner,Bernd Büchner +21 more
TL;DR: In this article, a single-crystal-based analysis of the structural, magnetic, and thermodynamic properties of the lattice structure of a cubic cubic cubic lattice with a structural distortion was presented.
Journal ArticleDOI
J eff Description of the Honeycomb Mott Insulator α − RuCl 3
Andreas Koitzsch,C. Habenicht,Eric A. Muller,M. Knupfer,Bernd Büchner,H. C. Kandpal,J. van den Brink,Domenic Nowak,Anna Isaeva,Th. Doert +9 more
TL;DR: It is found that α-RuCl_{3} is a Mott insulator with significant spin-orbit coupling, whose low energy electronic structure is naturally mapped onto J_{eff} states, a promising candidate for the realization of Kitaev physics.
