The Formation of Galaxies

TL;DR: In this article, the presently fashionable ideas for galaxy formation are reviewed briefly, and it is concluded that the standard isothermal heirarchy fits the available data best, and a simple infall picture is presented which explains many of the observed properties of disk galaxies.
