Nonlinear dynamics optimization with particle swarm and genetic algorithms for SPEAR3 emittance upgrade
Xiaobiao Huang,James Safranek +1 more
TL;DR: The result shows that the particle swarm algorithm converges significantly faster to similar or better solutions than the genetic algorithm and it does not require seeding of good solutions in the initial population, which may make it more suitable for many accelerator optimization applications.
Journal ArticleDOI
An algorithm for online optimization of accelerators
TL;DR: This method combines the conjugate direction set approach of Powell's method with a robust line optimizer which considers the random noise in bracketing the minimum and uses parabolic fit of data points that uniformly sample the bracketed zone.
ReportDOI
Matlab Based LOCO
TL;DR: Since LOCO requires collecting and processing a relative large amount of data, it is very helpful to have the LOCO code compatible with the high level machine control, to make it easier to use.
Journal ArticleDOI
Nonlinear dynamics in a SPEAR wiggler
TL;DR: In this article, the effect of nonlinear perturbation of the electron beam dynamics in the SPEAR storage ring at the Stanford Synchrotron Radiation Laboratory (SPEAR) was investigated.
Journal ArticleDOI
Online optimization of storage ring nonlinear beam dynamics
Xiaobiao Huang,James Safranek +1 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors proposed to optimize the nonlinear beam dynamics of existing and future storage rings with direct online optimization techniques, which may have crucial importance for the implementation of diffraction limited storage rings.
