Journal ArticleDOI
Atrial Fibrillation: Epidemiology, Pathophysiology, and Clinical Outcomes.
TL;DR: This review is a comprehensive examination of the epidemiological data associating unmodifiable and modifiable risk factors for AF and of the pathophysiological evidence supporting the mechanistic link between each risk factor and AF genesis.
Journal ArticleDOI
Interpretation of time-to-event outcomes in randomized trials: an online randomized experiment.
Isabelle R Weir,G.D. Marshall,G.D. Marshall,Jeffrey I. Schneider,Jeffrey I. Schneider,Jason A. Sherer,Emily M. Lord,Bishal Gyawali,Michael K. Paasche-Orlow,Emelia J. Benjamin,Ludovic Trinquart +10 more
TL;DR: Comparing interpretation of cancer RCTs with time-to-event outcomes when the reported treatment effect measure is the hazard ratio (HR), difference in restricted mean survival times (RMSTD), or both (HR+RMSTD) and the prevalence of misinterpretation of the HR is compared.
Journal ArticleDOI
Association Between Leukocyte Telomere Length and the Risk of Incident Atrial Fibrillation: The Framingham Heart Study.
Laila Staerk,Laila Staerk,Biqi Wang,Kathryn L. Lunetta,Robert H. Helm,Darae Ko,Jason A. Sherer,Patrick T. Ellinor,Patrick T. Ellinor,Steven A. Lubitz,Steven A. Lubitz,David D. McManus,Ramachandran S. Vasan,Emelia J. Benjamin,Ludovic Trinquart +14 more
TL;DR: In this moderate‐sized community‐based cohort, there was no significant association between LTL and risk of incident AF and the study was observational in nature; hence, it could not exclude residual confounding and be unable to establish causal pathways.
Journal ArticleDOI
Gastrointestinal and liver diseases and atrial fibrillation: a review of the literature.
Michelle T. Long,Darae Ko,Lindsay M. Arnold,Ludovic Trinquart,Jason A. Sherer,Sunny-Skye Keppel,Emelia J. Benjamin,Robert H. Helm +7 more
TL;DR: This work reviews the current literature on the bidirectional associations between gastrointestinal and liver diseases and AF and highlights the gaps in knowledge and areas requiring future investigation.
Journal ArticleDOI
Association Between Frailty and Atrial Fibrillation in Older Adults: The Framingham Heart Study Offspring Cohort
Ariela R. Orkaby,Ariela R. Orkaby,Jelena Kornej,Steven A. Lubitz,David D. McManus,Thomas G. Travison,Jason A. Sherer,Ludovic Trinquart,Joanne M. Murabito,Emelia J. Benjamin,Sarah R. Preis +10 more
TL;DR: In this article, the relation between frailty and atrial fibrillation (AF) has not been fully elucidated, however, the relation has been shown to be bidirectionally associated with cardiovascular disease.
