TL;DR: Data are consistent with the constellation of symptoms associated with posttraumatic stress syndrome, such as re-experiencing, and arousal to fearful contexts, and the CVS-recovery paradigm may be useful to simulate trauma outcomes following chronic traumatization that is often associated with repeated combat stress.

Localization of Mineralocorticoid Receptors at Mammalian Synapses

TL;DR: Direct anatomical evidence is provided supporting the concept that, at some synapses, synaptic transmission is regulated by mineralocorticoid receptors, and part of the stress signaling response in the brain is a direct modulation of the synapse itself by adrenal steroids.
