Journal ArticleDOI

Internal Motion and Molecular Structure Studies by Electron Diffraction

TL;DR: In this article, the theory for computing radial distribution curves has been extended to permit accurate curves to be obtained from scattering data covering only a restricted range of angle, which obviates the necessity for visual examination of the diffraction photographs.
Journal ArticleDOI

Proposed Mechanism of 1,1-Diamino-Dinitroethylene Decomposition: A Density Functional Theory Study

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors investigated the unimolecular decomposition pathway of the explosive molecule diaminodinitroethylene (DADNE) and found that the reaction is initiated by a nitro-to-nitrite rearrangement with a calculated energy barrier of magnitude 59.1 kcal/mol obtained by use of B3LYP (59.7 kcal/m B3P86).
Journal ArticleDOI

Kernel energy method illustrated with peptides

TL;DR: A kernel energy method for applying quantum crystallography to large molecules, with an emphasis on the calculation of the molecular energy of peptides, by adopting the approximation that a full biological molecule can be represented by smaller “kernels” of atoms.
Journal ArticleDOI

Crystalline ordering in silica and germania glasses.

TL;DR: The diffraction patterns of both silica and germania glasses are consistent with a structure in which nearly all of the atoms belong to tridymite-like regions of up to about 20 angstroms or more that are bonded efficiently together in a manner analogous to that found in twinned crystals.
