Journal ArticleDOI
Bronchoalveolar eosinophilia during allergen-induced late asthmatic reactions.
TL;DR: Bronchoalveolar lavage was performed in 19 asthmatic patients and in 5 control subjects to suggest that eosinophils and their mediators might be involved in the development of LAR after allergen inhalation.
Journal ArticleDOI
Cessation of Long-term Treatment with Inhaled Corticosteroid (Budesonide) in Children with Asthma Results in Deterioration

TL;DR: It is concluded that in this study long-term treatment with 600 micrograms budesonide daily suppressed underlying mechanisms of asthma, but did not cure the disease.
Journal ArticleDOI
Induction of atopic dermatitis by inhalation of house dust mite
TL;DR: The respiratory route may be relevant in the induction and exacerbation of dermatitis in a subset of patients with atopic dermatitis who have early bronchial reactions after house dust mite inhalation, a history of asthma, and an elevated blood total IgE level.
Journal ArticleDOI
Association of skin test reactivity, specific IgE, total IgE, and eosinophils with nasal symptoms in a community-based population study
TL;DR: The findings confirm the close relationship of skin test positivity with reported symptoms of nasal allergy in a general population and total serum IgE and eosinophil count is associated with nasal symptoms, regardless of type and extent of nasal symptoms.
Journal ArticleDOI
Provocation tests with allergens
TL;DR: Improved techniques for pulmonary function testing, the advent of nebulizers that give reproducible doses, and good penetration and deposition of particles in the lower airways together with standardized allergen extracts have significantly improved the methods of provocation so that results may be considered satisfactory and data from different centers may be compared.
