Journal ArticleDOI

Molecular and serological characterization of SARS-CoV-2 infection among COVID-19 patients.

TL;DR: The results indicate rapid clearance or self-elimination of viral RNA in about half of the COVID-19 patients upon admission and variable levels of specific anti-SARS-CoV-2 antibody may be associated with disease severity.
Journal ArticleDOI

A point-of-care rapid HIV-1 test using an isothermal recombinase-aided amplification and CRISPR Cas12a-mediated detection

TL;DR: Wang et al. as mentioned in this paper proposed a real-time isothermal reverse-transcription recombinase-aided amplification (rRT-RAA) and CRISPR Cas12a-mediated detection for HIV-1.
Journal ArticleDOI

Enhanced Transmissibility and Decreased Virulence of HIV-1 CRF07_BC May Explain Its Rapid Expansion in China

TL;DR: Lower virus infectivity and slower replication of CRF07_BC with aforementioned PTAPPE insertion (insPTAP) and/or PIDKELY deletion (Δ7) in the p6Gag protein, which in turn may increase the pool of people infected with CRF7_BC and the risk of HIV-1 transmission and the results help define the molecular mechanism regarding the association between the unique mutations and the slower disease progression of CRFs.
Journal ArticleDOI

Detection of Major SARS-CoV-2 Variants of Concern in Clinical Samples via CRISPR-Cas12a-Mediated Mutation-Specific Assay.

TL;DR: The CRISPR-Cas12a-based genotyping assay is highly sensitive and specific when detecting both the SARS-CoV-2 wild-type strain and major VOCs and can be easily implemented in resource-limited settings.
Journal ArticleDOI

Combination of Isothermal Recombinase-Aided Amplification and CRISPR-Cas12a-Mediated Assay for Rapid Detection of Major Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2 Variants of Concern

TL;DR: The combination of isothermal amplification and CRISPR-Cas12a-mediated assay is suitable for rapid detection of major SARS-CoV-2 variants in point-of-care testing and in resource-limiting settings and could be quickly updated for emerging variants.
