Journal ArticleDOI

Effect of food azo dye tartrazine on learning and memory functions in mice and rats, and the possible mechanisms involved.

TL;DR: Tartrazine extract significantly enhanced active behavioral response to the open field, increased the escape latency in Morris water maze test and decreased the retention latency in step-through tests, which indicated that more extensive assessment of food additives in current use is warranted.
Journal ArticleDOI

Fucoidan, a sulfated polysaccharide from brown algae, against myocardial ischemia-reperfusion injury in rats via regulating the inflammation response.

TL;DR: It is revealed that the administration of fucoidan could regulate the inflammation response via HMGB1 and NF-κB inactivation in I/R-induced myocardial damage.
Journal ArticleDOI

Fucoidan, a sulfated polysaccharide from brown algae, improves cognitive impairment induced by infusion of Aβ peptide in rats.

TL;DR: Fucoidan is a complex sulfated polysaccharide derived from marine brown seaweed and has been shown to improve learning and memory in rats induced by infusion of Aβ (1-40) and its possible mechanisms as discussed by the authors.
Journal ArticleDOI

Anti-inflammatory effects of sophocarpine in LPS-induced RAW 264.7 cells via NF-κB and MAPKs signaling pathways

TL;DR: The data suggested that sophocarpine exerted anti-inflammatory activity in vitro, and it might attribute to the inhibition of iNOS and COX-2 expressions via down-regulation of the JNK and p38 MAP kinase signal pathways and inhibition of NF-κB activation.
Journal ArticleDOI

Neuroprotective Effect of Fucoidan on H2O2-Induced Apoptosis in PC12 Cells Via Activation of PI3K/Akt Pathway

TL;DR: Results showed that fucoidan inhibited the decrease of cell viability, scavenged ROS formation and reduced lactate dehydrogenase release in H2O2-induced PC12 cells, and might protect the neurocytes against H1N1-induced apoptosis via reducing ROS levels and activating PI3K/Akt signaling pathway.
