Teaching efficacy of a medical education module on genetic testing for cancer
Katherine E. Teague,Judith Brown,Joanne M. Meyer,Mary Jo Ellis Kahn,Thomas J. Smith,Kathleen O. Kreutzer,Joann Bodurtha +6 more
TL;DR: Small-group discussion of relevant case examples increases knowledge and awareness of issues regarding presymptomatic genetic testing for breast cancer.
Journal ArticleDOI
Univariate analysis of dichotomous or ordinal data from twin pairs: A simulation study comparing structural equation modeling and logistic regression
TL;DR: A comparison between structural equation modeling and logistic regression for univariate analysis of categorical twin data is presented, finding the two methods to be generally comparable in their ability to detect a “correct” model under the specifications of the simulation.
Journal ArticleDOI
Twin study of adolescent genetic susceptibility to mosquito bites using ordinal and comparative rating data.
TL;DR: Analysis of a comparative rating variable “compared with your twin, who is bitten by mosquitoes more often?” indicated a strong genetic influence on frequency of being bitten by mosquito, with no significant differences observed between males and females.
Journal ArticleDOI
Identification of a cohort of male and female twins aged 65 years or more in the United States
Jack Goldberg,Jack Goldberg,Toni P. Miles,Sylvia E. Furner,Joanne M. Meyer,Alan Hinds,Viswanathan Ramakrishnan,Diane S. Lauderdale,Paul S. Levy +8 more
TL;DR: This method could identify an estimated 18,308 male/male, 7,544 female/female, and 204 male/female pairs of twins aged 65 years or more, which would be the largest sample of older twins ever assembled in the United States and represents a significant new resource for epidemiologic studies of the aging population.
