Journal ArticleDOI
Large nuclear vacuoles are indicative of abnormal chromatin packaging in human spermatozoa
J.G. Franco,A.L. Mauri,Claudia G. Petersen,Fabiana C. Massaro,L. F. I. Silva,V. Felipe,Mario Cavagna,Anaglória Pontes,R. L. R. Baruffi,Joao Batista A. Oliveira,Laura D. Vagnini +10 more
TL;DR: The present results support the use of high-magnification sperm selection for intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) using sperm nuclear vacuoles evaluated more precisely at high magnifications using motile sperm organelle morphology examination (MSOME).
Journal ArticleDOI
Endometrial ultrasonography as a predictor of pregnancy in an in-vitro fertilization programme after ovarian stimulation and gonadotrophin-releasing hormone and gonadotrophins
Joao Batista A. Oliveira,R.L.R. Baruffi,A.L. Mauri,Claudia G. Petersen,M.C. Borges,J.G. Franco +5 more
TL;DR: Endometrial ultrasound in terms of pattern and thickness is of no prognostic value in IVF cycles on the day of administration of HCG, and the presence of pattern I appears more likely to favour pregnancy.
Journal ArticleDOI
Correlation between semen analysis by motile sperm organelle morphology examination and sperm DNA damage
Joao Batista A. Oliveira,Fabiana C. Massaro,R.L.R. Baruffi,Ana L. Mauri,Claudia G. Petersen,L. F. I. Silva,Laura D. Vagnini,Jose G. Franco +7 more
TL;DR: Regression analysis of 538 semen samples demonstrated that percentages of normal nuclear sperm and all spermatozoa with abnormalities of nuclear form at high magnification had significant negative correlation with percentages of DNA fragmentation.
Journal ArticleDOI
Pregnancy outcomes in women with repeated implantation failures after intracytoplasmic morphologically selected sperm injection (IMSI)
Joao Batista A. Oliveira,Mario Cavagna,Claudia G. Petersen,Ana L. Mauri,Fabiana C. Massaro,L. F. I. Silva,Ricardo L. R. Baruffi,Jose G. Franco +7 more
TL;DR: IMSI does not provide a significant improvement in clinical outcome compared to ICSi, at least in couples with repeated implantation failures after conventional ICSI, and it should be noted that there were clear trends for lower miscarriage rates and higher rates of ongoing pregnancy and live births within the IMSI group.
Journal ArticleDOI
Comparison of day 2 embryo quality after conventional ICSI versus intracytoplasmic morphologically selected sperm injection (IMSI) using sibling oocytes
Ana L. Mauri,Claudia G. Petersen,Joao Batista A. Oliveira,Fabiana C. Massaro,Ricardo L. R. Baruffi,Jose G. Franco +5 more
TL;DR: IMSI had the same performance as conventional ICSI in terms of embryo quality at day 2, and it cannot exclude the possibility that IMSI effects occur only as a positive later paternal effect.
