Journal ArticleDOI

Variable-temperature neutron diffraction studies of the short, strong N...O hydrogen bonds in the 1:2 co-crystal of benzene-1,2,4,5-tetracarboxylic acid and 4,4'-bipyridyl.

TL;DR: The 1:2 adduct of benzene-1,2,4,5-tetracarboxylic acid and 4,4'-bipyridyl at 100 K has been studied by single-crystal neutron diffraction at 20, 200 and 296 K and the structure contains two short, strong N...O hydrogen bonds.
Journal ArticleDOI

Variable-temperature neutron diffraction studies of the short, strong hydrogen bonds in the crystal structure of pyridine-3,5-dicarboxylic acid.

TL;DR: Pyridine-3,5-dicarboxylic acid has been studied by single-crystal neutron diffraction at 15 and 296 K and in the deuterated structure the overall hydrogen-bond length increased and the magnitude of the migration increased.
Journal ArticleDOI

Structure and Bonding of the Vanadium(III) Hexa-Aqua Cation. 1. Experimental Characterization and Ligand-Field Analysis

TL;DR: Spectroscopic and crystallographic data are presented for salts containing the [V(OH(2))(6)](3+) cation, providing a rigorous test of the ability of the angular overlap model (AOM) to inter-relate the electronic and molecular structure of integer-spin complexes.
Journal ArticleDOI

Aqua Ions. 2. Structural manifestations of the Jahn-Teller effect in the beta-alums.

TL;DR: In this article, variable-temperature single-crystal neutron diffraction structures of the alums CsMIII(SO4)2·12D2O, where MIII = Ti, V, Mn, and Ga, are reported.
