Journal ArticleDOI
Degradation of Li/S Battery Electrodes On 3D Current Collectors Studied Using X-ray Phase Contrast Tomography.
Lukas Zielke,Céline Barchasz,S. Waluś,Fannie Alloin,Jean-Claude Leprêtre,Aaron Spettl,Volker Schmidt,André Hilger,Ingo Manke,John Banhart,Roland Zengerle,Simon Thiele +11 more
TL;DR: There is a strong decrease of sulphur loading after the first cycle, and a constant loading of about 15% of the initial loading afterwards, and this regain could be associated with effects such as surface area passivation and increasing charge transfer resistance.
Journal ArticleDOI
The influence of gas diffusion layer wettability on direct methanol fuel cell performance: A combined local current distribution and high resolution neutron radiography study
Alexander Schröder,Klaus Wippermann,Werner Lehnert,Detlef Stolten,Tilman Sanders,Thorsten Baumhöfer,Nikolay Kardjilov,André Hilger,John Banhart,Ingo Manke +9 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the influence of the anode and cathode GDL wettability on the current and media distribution was studied using combined in situ high resolution neutron radiography and locally resolved current distribution measurements.
Journal ArticleDOI
Investigation of Energy-Relevant Materials with Synchrotron X-Rays and Neutrons†
Ingo Manke,Henning Markötter,Christian Tötzke,Nikolay Kardjilov,Roman Grothausmann,Martin Dawson,Christoph Hartnig,Sylvio Haas,Diana Thomas,Armin Hoell,Christoph Genzel,John Banhart +11 more
TL;DR: In this article, the use of radiography, tomography, diffraction, scattering, and absorption edge spectroscopy is demonstrated for in situ characterization of processes and compositions of energy conversion systems.
Journal ArticleDOI
Imaging of metallic foams using X-ray micro-CT
Mohammad Saadatfar,Francisco García-Moreno,Stefan Hutzler,Adrian Sheppard,Mark Knackstedt,John Banhart,Denis Weaire +6 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a range of metallic foams that have been prepared under various conditions were examined using X-ray CT images and a 3D image analysis was carried out on the samples to extract geometrical and topological properties of the cells.
Journal ArticleDOI
Neutron tomographic investigations of water distributions in polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cell stacks
Henning Markötter,Ingo Manke,Robert Kuhn,Tobias Arlt,Nikolay Kardjilov,Manfred P. Hentschel,Andreas Kupsch,Axel Lange,Christoph Hartnig,Joachim Scholta,John Banhart,John Banhart +11 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a quasi-in-situ tomography technique was applied to study the 3D water distribution in full polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cell (PEMFC) stacks.
