Water sanitation and hygiene interventions to reduce diarrhoea in less developed countries: a systematic review and meta-analysis.
Lorna Fewtrell,Rachel B. Kaufmann,David Kay,Wayne T. A. Enanoria,Laurence Haller,John M. Colford,John M. Colford +6 more
TL;DR: Water quality interventions (point-of-use water treatment) were found to be more effective than previously thought, and multiple interventions (consisting of combined water, sanitation, and hygiene measures) were not moreeffective than interventions with a single focus.
Journal ArticleDOI
Interferon-γ assays in the immunodiagnosis of tuberculosis: a systematic review
TL;DR: In this article, the authors did a systematic review to assess the performance of interferon-γ assays in the immunodiagnosis of tuberculosis, and they found that using Mycobacterium tuberculosis-specific region of difference 1 (RD1) antigens (such as early secretory antigenic target 6 and culture filtrate protein 10) may have advantages over the TST, in terms of higher specificity, better correlation with exposure to M tuberculosis and less cross-reactivity due to BCG vaccination and non-tuberculous mycob
Journal ArticleDOI

TL;DR: The burden of diarrhoeal diseases from exposure to inadequate water, sanitation and hand hygiene in low‐ and middle‐income settings and an overview of the impact on other diseases are estimated.
Journal ArticleDOI
Chorioamnionitis as a risk factor for cerebral palsy: A meta-analysis.
Yvonne W. Wu,John M. Colford +1 more

Das,Jaynal Abedin,Thomas Clasen,Kathryn G. Dewey,Lia C. H. Fernald,Clair Null,Tahmeed Ahmed,John M. Colford +26 more
TL;DR: The WASH Benefits Bangladesh cluster-randomised trial as mentioned in this paper enrolled pregnant women from villages in rural Bangladesh and evaluated outcomes at 1-year and 2-years' follow-up to assess whether water quality, sanitation, and handwashing interventions alone or combined with nutrition interventions reduced diarrhoea or growth faltering.
