Regionwide sharing for status 1 liver patients--beneficial impact on waiting time and pre- and posttransplant survival.

TL;DR: The introduction of regionwide sharing seems to have been of benefit for Status 1 patients at the authors' center, as they have a significantly lower risk of dying while waiting for a transplant and undergo one in a much shorter period of time.
Journal ArticleDOI

Clinical Impact of Antecedent Bariatric Surgery on Liver Transplant Outcomes: A Retrospective Matched Case-control Study

TL;DR: A history of BS does not portend a deleterious effect on LT outcomes and matched the BS cohort to LT recipients without BS (1:3 matching) based on exact matching for gender and cancer and inverse variance matching for age, LT BMI, MELD score, and transplant date.
Journal ArticleDOI

Split-liver transplants for two adult recipients: technique of preservation of the vena cava with the right lobe graft.

TL;DR: Recently, the splitting procedure is modified such that the IVC is preserved with the right lobe, which maximizes outflow from theRight lobe, minimizes warm ischemic time, and simplifies the implantation of theright lobe.
Journal ArticleDOI

Liver Simulated Allocation Modeling: Were the Predictions Accurate for Share 35?

TL;DR: LSAM correctly predicted change in discarded organs, regional and national sharing, waitlist mortality, and transplants after Share 35 implementation, consistent with observed data.
