Journal ArticleDOI
Prevalence of Gonorrhea and Chlamydia Testing by Anatomical Site Among Men Who Have Sex With Men in HIV Medical Care, United States, 2013-2014
TL;DR: Fewer than one-third of men who have sex with men were tested for Neisseria gonorrhoeae or Chlamydia trachomatis as part of HIV medical care in the United States in 2013 to 2014, and only 11.6% were testing for either sexually transmitted disease at an extragenital site.
Journal ArticleDOI
HIV Viral Load Monitoring Frequency and Risk of Treatment Failure among Immunologically Stable HIV-Infected Patients Prescribed Combination Antiretroviral Therapy
TL;DR: Biannual VL monitoring for stable patients with aviremia could generate substantial cost savings without the increased risk of VF, and the authors did not detect statistically significant difference in frequency of Vf among patients undergoing frequent VL testing.
Journal ArticleDOI
Factors associated with initiation of prolonged analgesic use among patients in the HIV Outpatient Study (HOPS).
John Koeppe,Kenneth A. Lichtenstein,Carl Armon,Joan S. Chmiel,Kate Buchacz,Kathy Wood,John T. Brooks +6 more
TL;DR: In the highly active antiretroviral therapy era, up to 15% of HIV Outpatient Study patients used prolonged analgesic therapy each year, including HIV and non-HIV-related factors.
Journal ArticleDOI
Incidence and Predictors of Abnormal Anal Cytology Findings Among HIV-Infected Adults Receiving Contemporary Antiretroviral Therapy
Lois Conley,Timothy J. Bush,Teresa M. Darragh,Teresa M. Darragh,Joel M. Palefsky,Joel M. Palefsky,Elizabeth R. Unger,Elizabeth R. Unger,Pragna Patel,Martin Steinau,Martin Steinau,E. Milu Kojic,Harold L. Martin,E. Turner Overton,Susan Cu-Uvin,John Hammer,Keith Henry,Kathleen C. Wood,John T. Brooks +18 more
TL;DR: The incidence of abnormal anal cytology findings was high and more likely to develop among persons with persistent high-risk HPV and remained associated with incident abnormalities.
Journal ArticleDOI
Factors associated with mortality among persistently viraemic triple-antiretroviral-class-experienced patients receiving antiretroviral therapy in the HIV Outpatient Study (HOPS)
Frank J. Palella,Carl Armon,Kate Buchacz,Joan S. Chmiel,Richard M. Novak,Richard T. D'Aquila,John T. Brooks,Hops Investigators +7 more
TL;DR: Factors significantly associated with mortality risk among TCF patients who received ongoing ARV therapy included traditional clinical predictors but not the presence, type or number of HIV genetic mutations.
