Drop impact and capture on a thin flexible fiber

TL;DR: The capture dynamics of both inviscid and viscous drops on flexible fibers free to deform following impact are discussed, and an optimal fiber length is identified for maximizing the efficiency of droplet capture.
Journal Article

The Clapping Book:Wind-Driven Oscillations in a Stack of Elastic Sheets

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present a hybrid experimental and theoretical study on the oscillatory behavior exhibited by multiple thin sheets under aerodynamic loading, and develop a theoretical model that predictively describes this periodic clapping process.

The Clapping Book

TL;DR: In this article, a steady horizontal air stream flows across a book clamped at its downstream end, and pages lift off to form a growing bent stack whose shape is determined by the torques associated with aerodynamic forces, weight and elastic resistance to bending.

Partial coalescence of soap bubbles

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present the results of an experimental investigation of the merger of a soap bubble with a planar soap film, showing that when gently deposited onto a horizontal film, a bubble may interact with the underlying film in such a way as to decrease in size, leaving behind a smaller daughter bubble with approximately half the radius of its progenitor.
