The Elastochrone: the descent time of a sphere on a flexible beam

TL;DR: In this paper, a combined experimental and theoretical investigation of the motion of a sphere on an inclined flexible beam is presented, where a theoretical model based on Euler-Bernoulli beam theory is developed to describe the dynamics, and in the limit where the beam reacts instantaneously to the loading, they obtain exact solutions for the load trajectory and descent time.

The Stability of a Hydrodynamic Bravais Lattice

TL;DR: In this paper , the stability and collective vibrations of a two-dimensional hydrodynamic lattice comprised of millimetric droplets bouncing on the surface of a vibrating liquid bath are investigated.

Flexibility increases lift on passive fluttering wings

TL;DR: In this article, the influence of flexibility on the side-to-side fluttering motion of passive wings settling under gravity was examined experimentally and theoretical scalings were derived from a reduced model of the flight dynamics and yield quantitative agreement with experiments.
