Atomically precise organomimetic cluster nanomolecules assembled via perfluoroaryl-thiol SNAr chemistry
Elaine A. Qian,Alex I. Wixtrom,Jonathan C. Axtell,Azin Saebi,Dahee Jung,Pavel Rehak,Yanxiao Han,Elamar Hakim Moully,Daniel Mosallaei,Sylvia Chow,Marco S. Messina,Jing Yang Wang,A. Timothy Royappa,Arnold L. Rheingold,Heather D. Maynard,Petr Král,Alexander M. Spokoyny +16 more
TL;DR: A new approach to form atomically precise and highly tunable hybrid nanomolecules with well-defined three-dimensionality is reported, which allows the rapid generation of precise molecular assemblies for investigating multivalent interactions.
Journal ArticleDOI
Blue Phosphorescent Zwitterionic Iridium(III) Complexes Featuring Weakly Coordinating nido-Carborane-Based Ligands.
Jonathan C. Axtell,Kent O. Kirlikovali,Peter I. Djurovich,Dahee Jung,Vinh T. Nguyen,Brian Munekiyo,A. Timothy Royappa,A. Timothy Royappa,Arnold L. Rheingold,Alexander M. Spokoyny +9 more
TL;DR: The development of a new class of phosphorescent zwitterionic bis(heteroleptic) Ir(III) compounds containing pyridyl ligands with weakly coordinating nido-carboranyl substituents is reported, suggesting that the use of a ligand framework containing aWeakly coordinating anionic component can provide a new avenue for designing efficient Ir( III)-based phosphorescent emitters.
Journal ArticleDOI
Luminescent metal complexes featuring photophysically innocent boron cluster ligands
Kent O. Kirlikovali,Jonathan C. Axtell,Alejandra Gonzalez,Alice C. Phung,Saeed I. Khan,Alexander M. Spokoyny +5 more
TL;DR: This work reports the synthesis and characterization of a series of d8 metal complexes featuring robust and photophysically innocent strong-field chelating 1,1′-bis(o-carborane) (bc) ligand frameworks.
Journal ArticleDOI
Synthesis and Applications of Perfunctionalized Boron Clusters
TL;DR: This Viewpoint describes major advances pertaining to perfunctionalized boron clusters in synthesis and their respective applications, and suggests potential new directions for these clusters as they apply to both synthetic methods and applications.
Journal ArticleDOI
B–N, B–O, and B–CN Bond Formation via Palladium-Catalyzed Cross-Coupling of B-Bromo-Carboranes
Rafal M. Dziedzic,Liban M. A. Saleh,Jonathan C. Axtell,Joshua L. Martin,Simone L. Stevens,A. Timothy Royappa,A. Timothy Royappa,Arnold L. Rheingold,Alexander M. Spokoyny +8 more
TL;DR: For the first time, the use of bromo-carboranes in palladium-catalyzed cross-coupling for efficient B-N, B-O, and unprecedented B-CN bond formation is reported.
