FANCI Binds Branched DNA and Is Monoubiquitinated by UBE2T-FANCL
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that FANCI and its C-terminal fragment possess a DNA binding activity that prefers branched structures and can be ubiquitinated on Lys-523 by the UBE2T-FANCL pair in vitro.
Journal ArticleDOI
Molecular basis for enhancement of the meiotic DMC1 recombinase by RAD51 associated protein 1 (RAD51AP1)
Eloise Dray,Myun Hwa Dunlop,Liisa Kauppi,Joseph San Filippo,Joseph San Filippo,Claudia Wiese,Miaw Sheue Tsai,Sead Begovic,David Schild,Maria Jasin,Scott Keeney,Patrick Sung +11 more
TL;DR: Results suggest that RAD51AP1 also serves an important role in meiotic homologous recombination, and provide evidence that functional cooperation is dependent on complex formation between DMC1 and RAD51 AP1 and that distinct epitopes in RAD 51AP1 mediate interactions with RAD51 and D MC1.
Journal ArticleDOI
Mechanistic Insights into RAD51-associated Protein 1 (RAD51AP1) Action in Homologous DNA Repair
Myun Hwa Dunlop,Eloise Dray,Weixing Zhao,Joseph San Filippo,Miaw Sheue Tsai,Stanley G. Leung,David Schild,Claudia Wiese,Patrick Sung +8 more
TL;DR: In this paper, it was shown that RAD51AP1 harbors two distinct DNA binding domains that are both needed for maximal protein activity under physiological conditions, and mutants that are impaired in either or both of the binding domains were generated.

Molecular Basis for Enhancement of the Meiotic DMCI Recombinase by RAD51AP1
Eloise Dray,Myun Hwa Dunlop,Liisa Kauppi,Joseph San Filippo,Claudia Wiese,Miaw-Sheue Tsai,Sead Begovic,David Schild,Maria Jasin,Scott Keeney,Patrick Sung +10 more
TL;DR: Results suggest that RAD51AP1 also serves an important role in meiotic homologous recombination, and provide evidence that functional co-operation is dependent on complex formation between DMC1 and RAD51 AP1, and that distinct epitopes in RAD 51AP1 mediate interactions with RAD51 and DMC2.
