The Role of Abiotic Factors in Community Organization

TL;DR: By using literature examples and data on the role of salinity in reversing the competitive relations between fish of the genus Lucania, a reemphasis of the integrative role of abiotic and biotic factors is suggested.
Journal ArticleDOI

Nontraditional Regression Analyses

Joel C. Trexler, +1 more
- 01 Sep 1993 -
TL;DR: Two less commonly used regression analyses that could find wide application in ecology, logistic regression and LOWESS regression are discussed.
Journal ArticleDOI

Local adaptation in Trinidadian guppies alters ecosystem processes

TL;DR: It is demonstrated that populations of Trinidadian guppies (Poecilia reticulata), characterized by differences in phenotypic and population-level traits, differ in their impact on ecosystem properties and demonstrates that evolution can significantly affect both ecosystem structure and function.
Journal ArticleDOI

How can the functional response best be determined

TL;DR: Using data from nature and simulations, it is found that the analyses of predation rates with the angular transformation and logit analysis were best at consistently determining the “true” functional response, i.e. the model used to generate simulated data.
