Journal ArticleDOI
Increased BDNF promoter methylation in the Wernicke area of suicide subjects.
Simona Keller,Marco Sarchiapone,Federica Zarrilli,Alja Videtic,Angelo Ferraro,Vladimir Carli,Silvana Sacchetti,Francesca Lembo,Antonella Angiolillo,Nikolina Jovanović,Francesco Pisanti,Rossella Tomaiuolo,Antonella Monticelli,Joze Balazic,Alec Roy,Andrej Marusic,Sergio Cocozza,Alfredo Fusco,Carmelo B. Bruni,Giuseppe Castaldo,Lorenzo Chiariotti +20 more
TL;DR: BDNF promoter/exon IV is frequently hypermethylated in the Wernicke area of the postmortem brain of suicide subjects irrespective of genome-wide methylation levels, indicating that a gene-specific increase in DNA methylation could cause or contribute to the downregulation of BDNF expression in suicide subjects.
Journal ArticleDOI
Promoter and functional polymorphisms of HTR2C and suicide victims.
TL;DR: Haplotype analysis on female population showed marginal association of haplotype G‐C with suicide, which speaks for the plausible implication of the HTR2C in suicide susceptibility.
Journal ArticleDOI
Serotonin transporter gene promoter (5-HTTLPR) and intron 2 (VNTR) polymorphisms: a study on Slovenian population of suicide victims.
Galina Pungercic,Alja Videtic,Anita Pestotnik,Irena Zupanič Pajnič,Tomaz Zupanc,Joze Balazic,Martina Tomori,Radovan Komel +7 more
TL;DR: The study showed no association of serotonin transporter polymorphisms and suicide and was performed on a population with a very high suicide rate and the role of 5-HTTLPR polymorphisms may be different in other populations.
Journal ArticleDOI
Fingerprint recovery from human skin surfaces.
Matej Trapecar,Joze Balazic +1 more
TL;DR: Finger marks treated with cyanoacrylate were visible but those treated with RTX, Swedish Black and Magnetic Jet Black powder were useful for potential comparison and on dead bodies best results were obtained with RTX method.
Journal ArticleDOI
Association study of seven polymorphisms in four serotonin receptor genes on suicide victims
Alja Videtic,Galina Pungercic,Irena Zupanič Pajnič,Tomaz Zupanc,Joze Balazic,Martina Tomori,Radovan Komel +6 more
TL;DR: None of the tested genetic variants of serotonin receptors appears to be associated with suicidal behavior in the Slovenian population which has a relatively high suicide rate.
