Ultralow-fatigue shape memory alloy films

TL;DR: This work reports on the discovery of an ultralow-fatigue shape memory alloy film system based on TiNiCu that allows at least 10 million transformation cycles, and finds that these films contain Ti2Cu precipitates embedded in the base alloy that serve as sentinels to ensure complete and reproducible transformation in the course of each memory cycle.
Journal ArticleDOI

Ultralow‐Fatigue Shape Memory Alloy Films.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors showed that the Ti54Ni34Cu12 shape memory alloy films allow at least 10 million transformation cycles and up to 20 million transformations, respectively. But they did not specify the number of transformation cycles.
Journal ArticleDOI

Single target sputter deposition of alloy nanoparticles with adjustable composition via a gas aggregation cluster source.

TL;DR: A novel approach for the fabrication of variable composition alloy nanoparticles that is based on a Haberland type gas aggregation cluster source with a custom-made multicomponent target for magnetron sputtering is suggested.
Journal ArticleDOI

Tuning doping and surface functionalization of columnar oxide films for volatile organic compound sensing: experiments and theory

TL;DR: In this paper, a new strategy based on surface functionalization and doping of semiconducting oxides was proposed for tuning device properties, which achieved a considerable increase in the gas sensing ability of Fe-doped ZnO (ZnO:Fe) columnar films grown by chemical deposition is achieved via surface decoration with oxidized silver nanoparticles (AgO/Ag NPs) with a diameter of ∼7-10 nm.
