Ultralow-fatigue shape memory alloy films
Christoph Chluba,Wenwei Ge,Rodrigo Lima de Miranda,Julian Strobel,Lorenz Kienle,Eckhard Quandt,Manfred Wuttig +6 more
TL;DR: This work reports on the discovery of an ultralow-fatigue shape memory alloy film system based on TiNiCu that allows at least 10 million transformation cycles, and finds that these films contain Ti2Cu precipitates embedded in the base alloy that serve as sentinels to ensure complete and reproducible transformation in the course of each memory cycle.
Journal ArticleDOI
Ultralow‐Fatigue Shape Memory Alloy Films.
Christoph Chluba,Wenwei Ge,Rodrigo Lima de Miranda,Julian Strobel,Lorenz Kienle,Eckhard Quandt,Manfred Wuttig +6 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors showed that the Ti54Ni34Cu12 shape memory alloy films allow at least 10 million transformation cycles and up to 20 million transformations, respectively. But they did not specify the number of transformation cycles.
Journal ArticleDOI
Single target sputter deposition of alloy nanoparticles with adjustable composition via a gas aggregation cluster source.
Alexander Vahl,Julian Strobel,Wiebke Reichstein,Oleksandr Polonskyi,Thomas Strunskus,Lorenz Kienle,Franz Faupel +6 more
TL;DR: A novel approach for the fabrication of variable composition alloy nanoparticles that is based on a Haberland type gas aggregation cluster source with a custom-made multicomponent target for magnetron sputtering is suggested.
Journal ArticleDOI
Conversionless efficient and broadband laser light diffusers for high brightness illumination applications
Fabian Schütt,Maximilian Zapf,Stefano Signetti,Julian Strobel,Helge Krüger,Robert Röder,Jürgen Carstensen,Niklas Wolff,Janik Marx,Tian Carey,Tian Carey,Marleen Schweichel,Maik-Ivo Terasa,Leonard Siebert,Hyo-Ki Hong,Sören Kaps,Bodo Fiedler,Yogendra Kumar Mishra,Zonghoon Lee,Nicola M. Pugno,Nicola M. Pugno,Nicola M. Pugno,Lorenz Kienle,Andrea C. Ferrari,Felice Torrisi,Felice Torrisi,Carsten Ronning,Rainer Adelung +27 more
TL;DR: A macroscopically expanded, three-dimensional diffuser composed of interconnected hollow hexagonal boron nitride microtubes with nanoscopic wall-thickness acting as an artificial solid fog, capable of withstanding ~10 times the irradiance level of remote phosphors is demonstrated.
Journal ArticleDOI
Tuning doping and surface functionalization of columnar oxide films for volatile organic compound sensing: experiments and theory
Vasile Postica,Alexander Vahl,Julian Strobel,David Santos-Carballal,Oleg Lupan,Oleg Lupan,Abdelaziz Cadi-Essadek,Nora H. de Leeuw,Nora H. de Leeuw,Fabian Schütt,Oleksandr Polonskyi,Thomas Strunskus,Martina Baum,Lorenz Kienle,Rainer Adelung,Franz Faupel +15 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a new strategy based on surface functionalization and doping of semiconducting oxides was proposed for tuning device properties, which achieved a considerable increase in the gas sensing ability of Fe-doped ZnO (ZnO:Fe) columnar films grown by chemical deposition is achieved via surface decoration with oxidized silver nanoparticles (AgO/Ag NPs) with a diameter of ∼7-10 nm.
