Journal ArticleDOI
High Prevalence of Obesity in Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2) Requiring Invasive Mechanical Ventilation.
Arthur Simonnet,Mikael Chetboun,Julien Poissy,Violeta Raverdy,Jerome Noulette,Alain Duhamel,Julien Labreuche,Daniel Mathieu,François Pattou,Mercé Jourdain +9 more
TL;DR: The COVID‐19 pandemic is rapidly spreading worldwide, notably in Europe and North America where obesity is highly prevalent and the relation between obesity and severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus‐2 (SARS‐CoV‐2) has not been fully documented.
Journal ArticleDOI
Statins in Stroke Prevention and Carotid Atherosclerosis Systematic Review and Up-to-Date Meta-Analysis
TL;DR: It is found that statins may reduce the incidence of all strokes without any increase in hemorrhagic strokes, and this effect is mainly driven by the extent of between-group LDL-C reduction.
Journal ArticleDOI
A transient ischaemic attack clinic with round-the-clock access (SOS-TIA): feasibility and effects.
Philippa C. Lavallée,Elena Meseguer,Halim Abboud,Lucie Cabrejo,Jean-Marc Olivot,Olivier Simon,Mikael Mazighi,Chantal Nifle,Philippe Niclot,Bertrand Lapergue,Isabelle F. Klein,Eric Brochet,Philippe Gabriel Steg,Guy Lesèche,Julien Labreuche,Pierre-Jean Touboul,Pierre Amarenco +16 more
TL;DR: Use of TIA clinics with 24-h access and immediate initiation of preventive treatment might greatly reduce length of hospital stay and risk of stroke compared with expected risk.
Journal ArticleDOI
Lipid management in the prevention of stroke: review and updated meta-analysis of statins for stroke prevention.
Pierre Amarenco,Julien Labreuche +1 more
TL;DR: Meta-analysis of randomised trials of statins in combination with other preventive strategies shows that each 1 mmol/L (39 mg/dL) decrease in LDL cholesterol equates to a reduction in relative risk for stroke of 21.1% in secondary prevention of non-cardioembolic stroke.
Journal ArticleDOI
One-Year Risk of Stroke after Transient Ischemic Attack or Minor Stroke.
Pierre Amarenco,Philippa C. Lavallée,Julien Labreuche,Gregory W. Albers,Natan M. Bornstein,Patrícia Canhão,Louis R. Caplan,Geoffrey A. Donnan,José M. Ferro,M.G. Hennerici,Carlos A. Molina,Peter M. Rothwell,Leila Sissani,David Školoudík,Philippe Gabriel Steg,Pierre-Jean Touboul,Shinichiro Uchiyama,Eric Vicaut,Lawrence K.S. Wong +18 more
TL;DR: The ABCD(2) score, findings on brain imaging, and status with respect to large-artery atherosclerosis helped stratify the risk of recurrent stroke within 1 year after a TIA or minor stroke.
