Journal ArticleDOI

Group I introns from Zygomycota: evolutionary implications for the fungal IC1 intron subgroup.

TL;DR: Group I introns from the nSSU rDNA of two zygomycete fungi are reported, leading to the suggestion that fungal IC1 introns might have invaded or been transferred laterally after the divergence of the four major fungal phyla.
Journal ArticleDOI

Bristle-like fungal colonizers on the stone walls of the Kitora and Takamatsuzuka Tumuli are identified as Kendrickiella phycomyces

TL;DR: Using an integrated analysis of phenotypic and genotypic characterizations, a total of 18 isolates of “bristle-like” fungal colonizers of the Kitora and Takamatsuzuka Tumuli were determined to be Kendrickiella phycomyces, a monophyletic lineage distant from the core taxa of the Leotiomycetes.
Journal ArticleDOI

Characteristics of nucleosomes and linker DNA regions on the genome of the basidiomycete Mixia osmundae revealed by mono- and dinucleosome mapping.

TL;DR: It is demonstrated that observation of din nucleosomes as well as of mononucleosomes is valuable in investigating nucleosomal organization of the genome.
