Journal ArticleDOI

Genetic Characterization of Sarcoptes scabiei from Black Bears (Ursus americanus) and Other Hosts in the Eastern United States

TL;DR: It is suggested that the increasing number of S. scabiei cases in northeastern black bears is not due to the emergence and expansion of a single parasite strain, but rather, sequences from black bears grouped into a large clade that included S. SCABiei from numerous hosts from Europe, Asia, Africa, and Australia.
Journal ArticleDOI

Environmental Stability of Swine and Human Pandemic Influenza Viruses in Water Under Variable Conditions of Temperature, Salinity, and pH

TL;DR: The important findings of this work are that IAV persistence can be affected by environmental variables and that no marked changes were noted between human and swine IAVs or between pandemic and nonpandemic I AVs.
Journal ArticleDOI

Growth in precocious puberty

TL;DR: In rapidly progressing central precocious puberty in girls, gonadotrophin releasing hormone agonists (GnRH agonists) appear to increase final height by about 5cm in girls treated before the age of eight, but there is no height benefit in those treated after eight years, and Gn RH agonists appear to be relatively safe.
Journal ArticleDOI

Molecular Surveillance for Lymphoproliferative Disease Virus in Wild Turkeys (Meleagris gallopavo) from the Eastern United States.

TL;DR: It is indicated that LPDV infection is common and widespread in wild turkey populations throughout the eastern USA, even without overt signs of disease.
Journal ArticleDOI

Urinary incontinence and other pelvic floor disorders after radiation therapy in endometrial cancer survivors.

TL;DR: Local or regional radiation is not associated with urinary or fecal incontinence, but may contribute to sexual dysfunction in endometrial cancer survivors.
