Reformulating competition? Gasoline content regulation and wholesale gasoline prices

TL;DR: In this article, the authors investigated the extent to which the estimated price effects are driven by changes in the number of suppliers versus geographic segmentation resulting from regulation and found that prices in regulated metropolitan areas increase significantly, relative to a control group, by an average of 3 cents/gal.

No Child Left Behind: Estimating the Impact on Choices and Student Outcomes

TL;DR: The authors found that 16% of parents responded to NCLB notification by choosing schools that had on average 1 standard deviation higher average test scores than their current NC-NCLB school and then used the lottery assignment of students to chosen schools to test if changed choices led to improved academic outcomes.
