Journal ArticleDOI

Optical diffraction in twisted liquid-crystalline media-phase grating mode

TL;DR: In this paper, the diffraction of light perpendicular to the twist axis in a chiral smectic C liquid crystal was calculated and it was shown that the odd orders are linearly polarized and the even orders are elliptically polarized.
Journal ArticleDOI

Effect of skew cybotactic structure on the optical properties of a nematogen with a lateral cyano substituent

TL;DR: In this article, an unusual thermal variation of the ordinary refractive index (n o) of the nematogenic compound 2-cyano-4-heptyl-phenyl-4′-pentyl- 4-biphenyl carboxylate, which has a cyano group making a large angle with the molecular axis was reported.
Journal ArticleDOI

Electron transfer studies on cholesterol LB films assembled on thiophenol and 2-naphthalenethiol self-assembled monolayers.

TL;DR: It is found that the highly hydrophobic surface formed by the self-assembled monolayers of 2-NT and TP act as effective platforms for the fabrication of cholesterol monolayer and multilayer films.
Journal ArticleDOI

Discogen-DNA complex films at air-water and air-solid interfaces.

TL;DR: Comparison of films of an ionic discogenic (discotic mesogenic) molecule and DNA complex at air-water (A-W) and air-solid interfaces finds that several tens of layers of the PyTp-DNA complex monolayer can be transferred with good efficiency.
