Heat Capacity Measurements on Small Samples at Low Temperatures
R. Bachmann,F. J. DiSalvo,Theodore H. Geballe,Richard L. Greene,Richard Howard,C. N. King,H. C. Kirsch,K. N. Lee,Robert E. Schwall,H. U. Thomas,R. B. Zubeck +10 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors describe a new calorimeter for measuring heat capacity in the range 1-35 K, using a silicon chip bolometer as sample holder, temperature sensor, and sample heater.
Journal ArticleDOI
Physical properties of SmB 6
TL;DR: In this paper, a model for the electronic structure of rare earth hexaborides was proposed by new transport measurements in combination with analyses of the magnetic susceptibility and lattice energetics.
Journal ArticleDOI
Magnetic Ordering in Pr B 6
TL;DR: In this article, the specific heat and resistivity of the antiferromagnetic ordering temperature of Pr${\mathrm{B}}_{6}$ were measured at low temperatures.
Journal ArticleDOI
Exchange Interactions and Fluctuations in Ce B 6
K. N. Lee,Brian Bell +1 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors report measurements of the low-temperature specific heat of rare-earth hexaborides and discuss their significance in the light of earlier studies of this compound and give independent support to the proposal by Nickerson and White that the exchange in the crystal field excited state is substantially stronger than the ground-state exchange in Ce${\mathrm{B}}_{6}$.
Journal ArticleDOI
Spin Scattering and Magnetic Ordering in EuB6
TL;DR: Magnetic and transport measurements in ferromagnetic EuB6 show evidence for a Fisher-Langer-type resistance anomaly near Tc, and they may not be a simple ferromagnet, and the magnetic coupling might be influenced by a temperaturedependent conduction electron concentration as mentioned in this paper.
