Journal ArticleDOI
Comparison of culture method and real-time PCR for detection of putative periodontopathogenic bacteria in deep periodontal pockets
TL;DR: Better sensitivity of the real-time PCR, when compared to the microbiological culture method, was demonstrated, in regards to the detection of the periodontal pathogens, and the lower detection levels of the cultivation methods may be explained by the problems of keeping pathogenic bacteria viable.
Journal ArticleDOI
Treatment of Residual Periodontal Pockets Using a Hyaluronic Acid-Based Gel: A 12 Month Multicenter Randomized Triple-Blinded Clinical Trial.
Andrea Pilloni,Blerina Zeza,Davor Kuiš,Domagoj Vrazic,Tomislav Domic,Iwona Olszewska-Czyz,Christina Popova,Kamen Kotsilkov,Elena Firkova,Yana Dermendzieva,Angelina Tasheva,Germano Orrù,Anton Sculean,Jelena Prpić +13 more
TL;DR: In this article, the adjunctive effect of hyaluronic acid (HA) gel in the treatment of residual periodontal pockets over a 12-month period was evaluated, and both treatments resulted in statistically significant clinical and microbiological improvements compared to baseline.
Journal ArticleDOI
Microbiological diagnosis of the severe chronic periodontitis
Lyudmila Boyanova,Lena Setchanova,Galina Gergova,Tomislav Kostyanev,Daniel Yordanov,Kamen Kotsilkov,Ivan Mitov +6 more
TL;DR: The presence of periodontopathogens as well as other bacterial species of possible importance should be considered in the patients with severe chronic periodontitis.
Mucogingival surgery with free gingival graft (strip technique) for augmentation of the attached gingival tissues: report of three cases
TL;DR: The results from the presented case reports with application of the strip technique for free gingival graft indicate that it could be applied when augmentation of the attached gedival tissues on larger area (more than 3 teeth).
Journal ArticleDOI
Subgingival irrigations with povidone- iodine as adjunctive treatment of chronic periodontitis
TL;DR: Positive effect of the subgingival irrigations with 10% povidoneiodine in cases of severe chronic periodontitis is demonstrated, rationale for future studies on the effectiveness of the iodophore solutions in the treatment of the disease and on the clinical significance of the investigated treatment.
