Journal ArticleDOI
Atmospheric emissions of nitrous oxide, methane, and carbon dioxide from different nitrogen fertilizers.
TL;DR: The results demonstrate that N fertilizer source and climate conditions need consideration when selecting N sources to reduce GHG emissions.
Journal ArticleDOI
In situ and ex situ spectroscopic monitoring of biochar's surface functional groups
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors used FTIR spectral features at respective temperatures during in situ pyrolysis of lignocellulosic feedstock matched the peak temperature of post-production analysis.
Journal ArticleDOI
Spatial shifts in microbial population structure within poultry litter associated with physicochemical properties.
TL;DR: Air and physical properties were correlated to shifts in microbial community structure as analyzed by principal component analysis (PCA) and measured by denaturing gradient gel electrophoresis (DGGE).
Journal ArticleDOI
The Effect of Alum Addition on Microbial Communities in Poultry Litter
TL;DR: According to quantitative real-time PCR analyses, alum addition to the poultry litter resulted in significant reductions in both Campylobacter jejuni and Escherichia coli concentrations by the end of the first month of the experiment, suggesting that the addition of alum to poultry litter potentially shifts the microbial populations from bacterially dominated to dominated by fungi.
Journal ArticleDOI
Laboratory and field evaluation of broiler litter nitrogen mineralization
TL;DR: Two studies were conducted to quantify broiler litter N mineralization with the following treatments: two soil moisture regimes, constant at 60% water fill pore space (WFPS) and fluctuating (60-30% WFPS), three soil types, Brooksville silty clay loam, Ruston sandy loam from Mississippi, and Catlin silt loam.
