Current Trends of Rice Milling Byproducts for Agricultural Applications and Alternative Food Production Systems
TL;DR: The byproducts of the milling process, how they are utilized, and potential application for conventional and alternative poultry production systems are discussed.
Journal ArticleDOI
Long-term preservation of anammox bacteria
TL;DR: This is the first report of the successful reactivation of anammox biomass preserved via sub-zero freezing and/or lyophilization, and could be beneficial to accelerate the integration of anamsox-based processes into current treatment systems through a highly efficient starting anamm ox biomass.
Journal ArticleDOI
Comparison between random forest and gradient boosting machine methods for predicting Listeria spp. prevalence in the environment of pastured poultry farms.
TL;DR: The developed models can be used to predict the prevalence of Listeria spp.
Journal ArticleDOI
The Effect of Alum Addition on Microbial Communities in Poultry Litter
TL;DR: According to quantitative real-time PCR analyses, alum addition to the poultry litter resulted in significant reductions in both Campylobacter jejuni and Escherichia coli concentrations by the end of the first month of the experiment, suggesting that the addition of alum to poultry litter potentially shifts the microbial populations from bacterially dominated to dominated by fungi.
Journal ArticleDOI
Antibiotics in Agroecosystems: Introduction to the Special Section
Alison M. Franklin,Diana S. Aga,Eddie Cytryn,Lisa M. Durso,Jean E.T. McLain,Amy Pruden,Marilyn C. Roberts,Michael J. Rothrock,Daniel D. Snow,John E. Watson,Robert S. Dungan +10 more
TL;DR: This introduction summarizes the current state of science for analyzing antibiotics and antibiotic resistance in agroecosystems, discusses current knowledge gaps, and develops future research priorities.
