Journal ArticleDOI
Percentage of Body Fat and Fat Mass Index as a Screening Tool for Metabolic Syndrome Prediction in Colombian University Students.
Robinson Ramírez-Vélez,Jorge Enrique Correa-Bautista,Alejandra Sanders-Tordecilla,Mónica Liliana Ojeda-Pardo,Elisa Andrea Cobo-Mejía,Rocío del Pilar Castellanos-Vega,Antonio García-Hermoso,Emilio González-Jiménez,Jacqueline Schmidt-RioValle,Katherine González-Ruíz +9 more
TL;DR: ROC analysis indicated that BF% and FMI can be used with moderate accuracy to identify MetS in university-aged students, and both indexes’ thresholds seem to be good tools to identify university students with unfavorable metabolic profiles.
Journal ArticleDOI
The Effects of Exercise on Abdominal Fat and Liver Enzymes in Pediatric Obesity: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis
Katherine González-Ruíz,Robinson Ramírez-Vélez,Jorge Enrique Correa-Bautista,Mark D. Peterson,Antonio García-Hermoso +4 more
TL;DR: Current recommendation for physical exercise, mainly aerobic, as an effective intervention for nonalcoholic fatty liver disease progression by targeting hepatic lipid composition, visceral and subcutaneous adipose tissue is supported.
Journal ArticleDOI
Bioelectrical Impedance Vector Analysis and Muscular Fitness in Healthy Men
Fernando Rodríguez-Rodríguez,Carlos Cristi-Montero,Katherine González-Ruíz,Jorge Enrique Correa-Bautista,Robinson Ramírez-Vélez +4 more
TL;DR: The BIVA’s parameters and PhA are a potentially effective preventive measure to be integrated into routine screening in the clinical setting and associated with a high level of MF in a sample of healthy Latin American adult men.
Journal ArticleDOI
Tri-Ponderal Mass Index vs. Fat Mass/Height3 as a Screening Tool for Metabolic Syndrome Prediction in Colombian Children and Young People
Robinson Ramírez-Vélez,Jorge Enrique Correa-Bautista,Hugo Alejandro Carrillo,Emilio González-Jiménez,Jacqueline Schmidt-RioValle,María Correa-Rodríguez,Antonio García-Hermoso,Katherine González-Ruíz +7 more
TL;DR: The results showed that the FMI and TMI had a moderate discriminatory power to detect MetS in Colombian children, adolescents, and young adults.
Journal ArticleDOI
Acute effects of high intensity, resistance, or combined protocol on the increase of level of neurotrophic factors in physically inactive overweight adults: the brainfit study
María Andrea Domínguez-Sánchez,Rosa Helena Bustos-Cruz,Gina Paola Velasco-Orjuela,Andrea del Pilar Quintero,Alejandra Tordecilla-Sanders,Jorge Enrique Correa-Bautista,Héctor Reynaldo Triana-Reina,Antonio García-Hermoso,Katherine González-Ruíz,Carlos Peña-Guzmán,Enrique Hernández,Jhonatan C. Peña-Ibagon,Luis Andrés Téllez-T,Mikel Izquierdo,Robinson Ramírez-Vélez +14 more
TL;DR: It is indicated that acute resistance training and combined exercise increase neurotrophic factors in physically inactive overweight men and chronic effects of these exercise protocols.
