Multisite phosphoregulation of Cdc25 activity refines the mitotic entrance and exit switches
TL;DR: Cdc25 hyperphosphorylation by Cdk1 governs CDC25 catalytic activation, the precision of mitotic entry, and unvarying cell length but not Cdc25 localization or abundance, and a mathematical model is proposed that explains C dc25 regulation by C DK1 through a distributive and disordered phosphorylation mechanism that ultrasensitively activates Cdc 25.
Journal ArticleDOI
Faculty Perceptions And Knowledge Of Career Development Of Trainees In Biomedical Science: What Do We (Think We) Know?
Stephanie W. Watts,Deepshikha Chatterjee,Julie Rojewski,Carol Shoshkes Reiss,Tracey Baas,Kathleen L. Gould,Abigail M. Brown,Roger Chalkley,Patrick D. Brandt,Inge Wefes,Linda E. Hyman,J. Kevin Ford +11 more
TL;DR: It is the hope that the work presented here will increase the awareness of the BEST national effort and the need for further career development for biomedical trainees.
Journal ArticleDOI
Phosphoinositide-mediated ring anchoring resists perpendicular forces to promote medial cytokinesis.
TL;DR: This study reports that Schizosaccharomyces pombe cells lacking efr3, which encodes a conserved PM scaffold for the phosphatidylinositol-4 kinase Stt4, build CRs that can slide away from the cell middle during anaphase in a myosin V–dependent manner.
Journal ArticleDOI
Regulation of cell cycle-specific gene expression in fission yeast by the Cdc14p-like phosphatase Clp1p
Kyriaki Papadopoulou,Jun-Song Chen,Emma Mead,Anna Feoktistova,Claudia Petit,Monica Agarwal,Mohhammed Jamal,Asrar Malik,Adonis Spanos,Steven G. Sedgwick,Jim Karagiannis,Mohan K. Balasubramanian,Kathleen L. Gould,Christopher J. McInerny +13 more
TL;DR: The observations suggest that Clp1p controls cell cycle-specific gene expression through binding to and dephosphorylating Mbx1p.
Journal ArticleDOI
DYRK kinase Pom1 drives F-BAR protein Cdc15 from the membrane to promote medial division.
Rahul Bhattacharjee,MariaSanta C. Mangione,Marcin Wos,Jun-Song Chen,Chloe E. Snider,Rachel H. Roberts-Galbraith,Nathan A. McDonald,Libera Lo Presti,Sophie G. Martin,Kathleen L. Gould +9 more
TL;DR: It is established that Pom1’s kinase activity prevents septation at cell tips even if Mid1 is absent or mislocalized, and inhibition of Cdc15-scaffolded septum formation at cell poles is a key Pom1 mechanism that ensures medial division.
