Journal ArticleDOI

Use of a Mycoplasma Hyopneumoniae Nested Polymerase Chain Reaction Test to Determine the Optimal Sampling Sites in Swine

TL;DR: The nested PCR developed for this study was found to be a highly sensitive and specific diagnostic tool for M. hyopneumoniae, but the enhanced sensitivity may be unnecessary if the proper sites are sampled.
Journal ArticleDOI

Cloning and Analysis of the Gene for a Major Surface Antigen of Mycoplasma gallisepticum

TL;DR: The gene for an antigen that has potential as a species-specific antigen for M. gallisepticum is identified, cloned, and characterized and codes for a 75-kD protein, P75, that is recognized during natural infections.
Journal ArticleDOI

Use of signature-tagged mutagenesis to identify genes associated with colonization of sheep by E. coli O157:H7.

TL;DR: 9 genes by STM that appeared to be required for colonization and/or survival in sheep were identified and the roles of all of these gene products require further study to determine how the persistence phenotype of a given strain of E. coli O157:H7 interacts with host factors.
