Journal ArticleDOI
Reduced burden of diabetes and improved quality of life: Experiences from unrestricted day-and-night hybrid closed-loop use in very young children with type 1 diabetes.
Gianluca Musolino,Klemen Dovc,Charlotte K. Boughton,Martin Tauschmann,Martin Tauschmann,Janet M. Allen,Katrin Nagl,Maria Fritsch,James Yong,Emily Metcalfe,Dominique Schaeffer,Muriel Fichelle,Ulrike Schierloh,Alena Gerlinde Thiele,Daniela Abt,Harald Kojzar,Julia K. Mader,Sonja Slegtenhorst,Nicole L Ashcroft,Malgorzata E. Wilinska,Judy Sibayan,Nathan Cohen,Craig Kollman,Sabine E. Hofer,Elke Fröhlich-Reiterer,Thomas Kapellen,Carlo L. Acerini,Carine de Beaufort,Fiona Campbell,Birgit Rami-Merhar,Roman Hovorka +30 more
TL;DR: To evaluate the experiences of families with very young children aged 1 to 7 years (inclusive) with type 1 diabetes using day‐and‐night hybrid closed‐loop insulin delivery, a large number of families opted for the day-and-night approach.
Journal ArticleDOI
Home Use of Day-and-Night Hybrid Closed-Loop Insulin Delivery in Very Young Children: A Multicenter, 3-Week, Randomized Trial.
Martin Tauschmann,Martin Tauschmann,Janet M. Allen,Katrin Nagl,Maria Fritsch,James Yong,Emily Metcalfe,Dominique Schaeffer,Muriel Fichelle,Ulrike Schierloh,Alena Gerlinde Thiele,Daniela Abt,Harald Kojzar,Julia K. Mader,Sonja Slegtenhorst,Nicole Barber,Malgorzata E Wilinska,Charlotte K. Boughton,Gianluca Musolino,Judy Sibayan,Nathan Cohen,Craig Kollman,Sabine E. Hofer,Elke Fröhlich-Reiterer,Thomas Kapellen,Carlo L. Acerini,Carine de Beaufort,Fiona Campbell,Birgit Rami-Merhar,Roman Hovorka +29 more
TL;DR: Unrestricted home use of day-and-night closed-loop in very young children with type 1 diabetes is feasible and safe and the use of diluted insulin during closed- loop does not provide additional benefits compared with standard strength insulin.
Journal ArticleDOI
Voltage-Gated Ion Channel Dysfunction Precedes Cardiomyopathy Development in the Dystrophic Heart
Xaver Koenig,Sandra Dysek,Stefanie Kimbacher,Agnes K. Mike,René Cervenka,Peter Lukacs,Katrin Nagl,Xuan B. Dang,Hannes Todt,Reginald E. Bittner,Karlheinz Hilber +10 more
TL;DR: Ion channel impairments precede pathology development in the dystrophic heart, and may thus be considered potential cardiomyopathy triggers.
Journal ArticleDOI
Glycemic Outcome Associated With Insulin Pump and Glucose Sensor Use in Children and Adolescents With Type 1 Diabetes. Data From the International Pediatric Registry SWEET
Roque Cardona-Hernandez,Anke Schwandt,Hessa Alkandari,Heiko Bratke,Agata Chobot,Nicole Coles,Sarah D. Corathers,Damla Gökşen,Peter W Goss,Zineb Imane,Katrin Nagl,Stephen Mp O’Riordan,Craig Jefferies +12 more
TL;DR: In this article, a large, international, diverse cohort of children and adolescents with type 1 diabetes from the Better Control in Pediatric and Adolescent Diabetes: Working to Create Centers of Reference (SWEET) -Registry was examined in a large-scale study, where insulin delivery methods, glucose-monitoring modalities, and related outcomes were examined.
Journal ArticleDOI
Factors contributing to partial remission in type 1 diabetes: analysis based on the insulin dose-adjusted HbA1c in 3657 children and adolescents from Germany and Austria.
Katrin Nagl,Julia M. Hermann,Michaela Plamper,Carmen Schröder,Axel Dost,Olga Kordonouri,Birgit Rami-Merhar,Reinhard W. Holl +7 more
TL;DR: Insulin dose‐adjusted hemoglobin A1c correlates well with stimulated C‐peptide levels, but has not yet been evaluated in a large cohort of patients with Type 1 diabetes (T1D).
