Journal ArticleDOI

Depression of hepatic cytochrome P-450-dependent monooxygenase systems with administered interferon inducing agents.

TL;DR: The results suggest that the depression of hepatic cytochrome P-450-dependent monooxygenase systems may be a general property of interferon inducing agents.
Journal ArticleDOI

Effects of interferon‐inducing agents on hepatic cytochrome p‐450 drug metabolizing systems*

TL;DR: It is predicted that viral infections, vaccinations, and treatment with IF-inducing agents will be shown to seriously impair the metabolism of drugs in humans.
Journal Article

Effects of polyribonoinosinic acid polyribocytidylic acid and a mouse interferon preparation on cytochrome P-450-dependent monooxygenase systems in cultures of primary mouse hepatocytes.

TL;DR: Poly rI·rC was shown to induce interferon activity in cultured hepatocytes and mouse interferons induced the hydroxylase activity in 24-hr-old cultures of hepatocytes, and aminopyrine N-demethylase and benzo[a]pyrene hydroxyase activities were determined.
Journal Article

Effect of Interferon Inducing Agents (Polyriboinosinic Acid· Polyribocytidylic Acid and Tilorone) on the Heme Turnover of Hepatic Cytochrome P-450

TL;DR: It is concluded that poly(rI·rC) and tilorone lower the concentration of hepatic hemoproteins by increasing their degradation rather than by depressing their synthesis.
Journal ArticleDOI

Suppression of the inductive effects of phenobarbital and 3-methylcholanthrene on ascorbic acid synthesis and hepatic cytochrome P-450-linked monooxygenase systems by the interferon inducers, poly rI.rC and tilorone

TL;DR: Induction of P-450 by 3-methylcholanthrene was suppressed completely by poly rI·rC or tilorone, but that of benzo[a]pyrene hydroxylase was lowered by only 40%, thus demonstrating the selective depressive action of interferon inducing agents on different species of P -450.
