Journal ArticleDOI
Genetic aberrations and survival in plasma cell leukemia.
Rodger E. Tiedemann,Natalia Gonzalez-Paz,Robert A. Kyle,Rafael Santana-Davila,Tammy Price-Troska,S Van Wier,Wee Joo Chng,Rhett P. Ketterling,Morie A. Gertz,Kim Henderson,P R Greipp,Angela Dispenzieri,Martha Q. Lacy,S V Rajkumar,P L Bergsagel,Alexander Keith Stewart,Rafael Fonseca +16 more
TL;DR: Overall pPCL and sPCL are different disorders with distinct natural histories, genetics and survival, and both show frequent N-RAS or K-Ras mutation.
Journal ArticleDOI
Molecular Dissection of Hyperdiploid Multiple Myeloma by Gene Expression Profiling
Wee Joo Chng,Shaji Kumar,Scott VanWier,Greg J. Ahmann,Tammy Price-Troska,Kim Henderson,Tae-Hoon Chung,Seungchan Kim,Seungchan Kim,George Mulligan,Barbara M. Bryant,John D. Carpten,Morie A. Gertz,S. Vincent Rajkumar,Martha Q. Lacy,Angela Dispenzieri,Robert A. Kyle,Philip R. Greipp,P. Leif Bergsagel,Rafael Fonseca +19 more
TL;DR: It is shown that H-MM is defined by a protein biosynthesis signature that is primarily driven by a gene dosage mechanism as a result of trisomic chromosomes that may provide a basis for tailoring treatment to individual patients.
Journal ArticleDOI
Prognostic value of chromosome 1q21 gain by fluorescent in situ hybridization and increase CKS1B expression in myeloma.
R Fonseca,S Van Wier,Wee Joo Chng,Rhett P. Ketterling,Martha Q. Lacy,Angela Dispenzieri,P L Bergsagel,S V Rajkumar,P R Greipp,Mark R. Litzow,Tammy Price-Troska,Kim Henderson,Gregory J. Ahmann,Morie A. Gertz +13 more
TL;DR: Both 1q21 gain and increase gene expression level were significantly associated with reduced survival in multiple myeloma, however, neither is an independent prognostic marker in MM on multivariate Cox proportional hazard analysis.
Journal ArticleDOI
Clinical and biological significance of RAS mutations in multiple myeloma
Wee Joo Chng,Wee Joo Chng,Natalia Gonzalez-Paz,Tammy Price-Troska,Susanna Jacobus,S V Rajkumar,Martin M. Oken,Robert A. Kyle,Kim Henderson,S Van Wier,Patricia T. Greipp,B Van Ness,R Fonseca +12 more
TL;DR: Primary genetic abnormalities in myeloma such as trisomies of chromosomes 3, 5, 7, 9, 11, 15, 19 and 21 associated with hyperdiploid MM and translocations involving the immunoglobulin heavy chain locus on chromosome 14q32 are already present in the pre-malignant monoclonal gammopathy of undetermined significance (MGUS).
Journal ArticleDOI
Deletions of chromosome 13 in multiple myeloma identified by interphase FISH usually denote large deletions of the q arm or monosomy
R Fonseca,Martin M. Oken,David P. Harrington,Richard J. Bailey,S Van Wier,Kim Henderson,Neil E. Kay,B Van Ness,P R Greipp,Gordon W. Dewald +9 more
TL;DR: Results indicate that chromosome 13 deletions in MM involve loss of most if not all of the 13q arm perhaps even indicating monosomy, and only occasionally represent an interstitial deletion.
