Luigi Bartalena,L Baldeschi,Kostas G. Boboridis,Anja Eckstein,George J. Kahaly,Claudio Marcocci,Petros Perros,Mario Salvi,Wilmar M. Wiersinga +8 more
TL;DR: In mild GO, a watchful strategy is usually sufficient, but a 6-month course of selenium supplementation is effective in improving mild manifestations and preventing progression to more severe forms, and shared decision-making is recommended for selecting second-line treatments.

Christophe Baudouin,Pasquale Aragona,Elisabeth M. Messmer,Alan Tomlinson,Margarita Calonge,Kostas G. Boboridis,Yonca A. Akova,Gerd Geerling,Marc Labetoulle,Maurizio Rolando +9 more
TL;DR: There is now an expanding pool of clinical data on the efficacy of DED therapies that include osmoprotectants such as erythritol, taurine, trehalose and L-carnitine, which may directly protect cells against hyperosmolarity and thereby promote exit from the vicious circle of D ED physiopathology.
