Journal ArticleDOI
Chemically homogeneous and thermally reversible oxidation of epitaxial graphene
Md. Zakir Hossain,Md. Zakir Hossain,James E. Johns,Kirk H. Bevan,Kirk H. Bevan,Hunter J. Karmel,Yu Teng Liang,Shinya Yoshimoto,Kozo Mukai,Tatanori Koitaya,Jun Yoshinobu,Maki Kawai,Amanda M. Lear,L. L. Kesmodel,Steven L. Tait,Mark C. Hersam +15 more
TL;DR: This work presents an alternative approach for oxidizing epitaxial graphene using atomic oxygen in ultrahigh vacuum, and shows that ultrahigh-vacuum oxidization results in uniform epoxy functionalization, creating new opportunities for the study and application of chemically functionalized graphene.
Journal ArticleDOI
Adsorption of CO2 on Graphene: A Combined TPD, XPS, and vdW-DF Study
Kaori Takeuchi,Susumu Yamamoto,Yuji Hamamoto,Yuichiro Shiozawa,Keiichiro Tashima,Hirokazu Fukidome,Takanori Koitaya,Kozo Mukai,Shinya Yoshimoto,Maki Suemitsu,Yoshitada Morikawa,Jun Yoshinobu,Iwao Matsuda +12 more
TL;DR: In this article, the adsorption of CO2 molecules on monolayer epitaxial graphene on a SiC(0001) surface at 30 K was investigated by temperature-programmed desorption and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy.
Journal ArticleDOI
Model for C defect on Si(100): The dissociative adsorption of a single water molecule on two adjacent dimers
TL;DR: The origin and atomic structure of C-defect on Si(100) have been unambiguously identified by low-temperature scanning tunnelling microscopy (STM).
Journal ArticleDOI
Precursor Mediated Cycloaddition Reaction of Ethylene to the Si(100)c(4 × 2) Surface
Masashi Nagao,Hirobumi Umeyama,Kozo Mukai,Yoshiyuki Yamashita,Jun Yoshinobu,Kazuto Akagi,Shinji Tsuneyuki +6 more
TL;DR: It is reported the direct observation of a precursor state for the cycloaddition reaction of ethylene on Si(100)c(4 x 2) using high-resolution electron energy loss spectroscopy at low temperature, and the meta-stable precursor state is identified as a weakly bonded pi-complex type.
Journal ArticleDOI
CO2 adsorption on the copper surfaces: van der Waals density functional and TPD studies.
Fahdzi Muttaqien,Yuji Hamamoto,Yuji Hamamoto,Ikutaro Hamada,Kouji Inagaki,Kouji Inagaki,Yuichiro Shiozawa,Kozo Mukai,Takanori Koitaya,Shinya Yoshimoto,Jun Yoshinobu,Yoshitada Morikawa,Yoshitada Morikawa +12 more
TL;DR: The calculated CO2 adsorption energies on the flat, stepped, and kinked Cu surfaces are 20-27 kJ/mol, which are compatible with the general notion of physisorbed species on solid surfaces.
