Journal ArticleDOI
Prevalence of Malaria Infection and Risk Factors Associated with Anaemia among Pregnant Women in Semiurban Community of Hazaribag, Jharkhand, India.
Mohammad Sohail,Shayan Shakeel,Shweta Kumari,Aakanksha Bharti,Faisal Zahid,Shadab Anwar,Krishn Pratap Singh,Mazahirul Islam,Ajay Kumar Sharma,Sneh Lata,Vahab Ali,Tridibes Adak,Pradeep Das,Mohammad Raziuddin +13 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the status of population at risk of malaria during pregnancy in Hazaribag, Jharkhand, India was evaluated using blood smear and/or RDT.
Journal ArticleDOI
Deciphering the interplay between cysteine synthase and thiol cascade proteins in modulating Amphotericin B resistance and survival of Leishmania donovani under oxidative stress.
Kuljit Singh,Vahab Ali,Vahab Ali,Krishn Pratap Singh,Parool Gupta,Shashi S. Suman,Ayan Kumar Ghosh,Sanjiva Bimal,Krishna Pandey,Pradeep Das +9 more
TL;DR: It is reported that over-expression of LdCS in Amphotericin B (Amp B) sensitive strain (S1-OE) modulates resistance towards oxidative stress and drug pressure, and reveals a novel crosstalk between Ld CS and thiol metabolic pathway proteins and demonstrates the crucial role in drug resistance and redox homeostasis of Leishmania.
Journal ArticleDOI
Up-regulation of cytosolic tryparedoxin in Amp B resistant isolates of Leishmania donovani and its interaction with cytosolic tryparedoxin peroxidase.
Shashi S. Suman,Asif Equbal,Amir Zaidi,M.Y. Ansari,Krishn Pratap Singh,Kuljit Singh,Bidyut Purkait,Ganesh Chandra Sahoo,Sanjiva Bimal,Pradeep Das,Ali +10 more
TL;DR: It is demonstrated at the translational level that Ld-cTXN protein is upregulated in Amp B resistant isolates accompanied by enhanced peroxidase activity, as compared to sensitive strains.
Journal ArticleDOI
Leishmania and its quest for iron: An update and overview.
TL;DR: Since iron plays central roles in the host's response and parasite metabolism, a comprehensive understanding of the iron metabolism is beneficial to identify potential viable therapeutic opportunities against leishmaniasis.
Journal ArticleDOI
Stage-dependent expression and up-regulation of trypanothione synthetase in amphotericin B resistant Leishmania donovani.
Asif Equbal,Shashi S. Suman,Shadab Anwar,Krishn Pratap Singh,Amir Zaidi,Abul Hasan Sardar,Pradeep Das,Vahab Ali +7 more
TL;DR: This study demonstrates stage- and Amp B sensitivity-dependent expression of LdTryS in L. donovani and involvement of TryS during oxidative stress to help the parasites survival.
