Journal ArticleDOI

Transdifferentiation of mesenchymal stem cells into Schwann cell-like myelinating cells

TL;DR: These findings demonstrate that it may be possible to differentiate MSC into therapeutically useful cells for clinical applications and myelinating capacity, and in some cases, single tMSC were able to myelinate more than one axon.
Journal ArticleDOI

Immunohistochemical distribution of cyclic GMP-dependent protein kinase-1 in human prostate tissue.

TL;DR: The colocalization of alpha-actin, cGMP, and cGKI isoforms provides further evidence for a significant role of the nitric oxide/cGMP pathway in the regulation of smooth muscle contractility in human prostate tissue and therefore could provide additional targets for pharmacotherapy of BPH and LUTS.
Journal ArticleDOI

αPIX RhoGEF Supports Positive Selection by Restraining Migration and Promoting Arrest of Thymocytes

TL;DR: It is reported that murine thymocytes with a knockout mutation in α-PAK (p21-activated kinase)-interacting exchange factor (PIX), an activator of Rho GTPases, showed greatly increased motility and altered morphology in two-dimensional migration on ICAM-1.
Journal ArticleDOI

Expression and Distribution of Cyclic AMP- and Cyclic GMP-Binding Protein Kinases in the Human Vagina— An Immunohistochemical Study

TL;DR: The expression of cAK and cGKIbeta in relation to VIP, PGP 9.5 in human vaginal tissue demonstrates the significance of both the cAMP and GMP pathway in the control of human vaginal vascular and nonvascular smooth muscle.
