Journal ArticleDOI
Conservation of farmland birds faces different challenges in Western and Central-Eastern Europe
Piotr Tryjanowski,Tibor Hartel,András Báldi,Paweł Szymański,Marcin Tobolka,Irina Herzon,Artur Goławski,Martin Konvicka,Martin Hromada,Leszek Jerzak,Krzysztof Kujawa,Magdalena Lenda,Grzegorz Orłowski,Marek Panek,Piotr Skórka,Tim H. Sparks,Stanisław Tworek,Andrzej Wuczyński,Michał Żmihorski +18 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors highlight some local and regional differences in biodiversity patterns within EU farmland by comparing intensive agricultural landscapes with more extensive ones, and use farmland birds to provide examples of the differences in species dynamics and species-habitat interactions between the two regions.
Journal Article
Correlation of intensity of MT-I/II expression with Ki-67 and MCM-2 proteins in invasive ductal breast carcinoma.
Andrzej Wojnar,Bartosz Pula,Aleksandra Piotrowska,Aleksandra Jethon,Krzysztof Kujawa,Christopher Kobierzycki,Janusz Rys,Marzena Podhorska-Okolow,Piotr Dziegiel +8 more
TL;DR: It is concluded that metallothionein/II may play a key role in IDC proliferation, but is not a useful prognostic factor of this disease.
Journal ArticleDOI
Species richness and composition of bird communities in various field margins of Poland
TL;DR: In this paper, a study was conducted to determine the occurrence of bird species in relation to 70 field margins of an agricultural landscape in SW Poland, and three types of margins were divided according to the volume of tall vegetation, i.e. herbaceous, shrubby, and tree-lined.
Journal ArticleDOI
Applying red lists to the evaluation of agricultural habitat: regular occurrence of threatened birds, vascular plants, and bryophytes in field margins of Poland
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that field margins in Central European arable farmland regularly support rare and threatened species, and therefore deserve greater conservation efforts.
Journal ArticleDOI
Population density and species composition changes for breeding bird species in farmland woodlots in western Poland between 1964 and 1994
TL;DR: In this article, the authors analyzed long-term changes in the breeding avifauna of small mid-field woodlots (avenues, shelterbelts and tree clumps) in intensively used farmland in Wielkopolska region (western Poland).
