Journal ArticleDOI
D14–SCF D3 -dependent degradation of D53 regulates strigolactone signalling
Feng Zhou,Qibing Lin,Lihong Zhu,Yulong Ren,Kunneng Zhou,Nitzan Shabek,Fuqing Wu,Haibin Mao,Wei Dong,Lu Gan,Weiwei Ma,He Gao,Jun Chen,Chao Yang,Dan Wang,Junjie Tan,Xin Zhang,Xiuping Guo,Jiulin Wang,Ling Jiang,Xi Liu,Weiqi Chen,Jinfang Chu,Cunyu Yan,Kotomi Ueno,Shinsaku Ito,Tadao Asami,Zhijun Cheng,Jie Wang,Cailin Lei,Huqu Zhai,Chuanyin Wu,Haiyang Wang,Ning Zheng,Jianmin Wan +34 more
TL;DR: The combined genetic and biochemical data reveal that D53 acts as a repressor of the SL signalling pathway, whose hormone-induced degradation represents a key molecular link between SL perception and responses.
Journal ArticleDOI
GW5 acts in the brassinosteroid signalling pathway to regulate grain width and weight in rice
Jiafan Liu,Jun Chen,Xiaoming Zheng,Fuqing Wu,Qibing Lin,Yueqin Heng,Peng Tian,Zhijun Cheng,Xiaowen Yu,Kunneng Zhou,Xin Zhang,Xiuping Guo,Jiulin Wang,Haiyang Wang,Jianmin Wan +14 more
TL;DR: The results suggest that GW5 is a novel positive regulator of BR signalling and a viable target for genetic manipulation to improve grain yield in rice and perhaps in other cereal crops as well.
Journal ArticleDOI
A gene cluster encoding lectin receptor kinases confers broad-spectrum and durable insect resistance in rice.
Yuqiang Liu,Han Wu,Hong Chen,Yanling Liu,Jun He,Haiyan Kang,Zhiguang Sun,Gen Pan,Qi Wang,Jinlong Hu,Feng Zhou,Kunneng Zhou,Xiaoming Zheng,Yulong Ren,Liangming Chen,Yihua Wang,Zhigang Zhao,Qibing Lin,Fuqing Wu,Xin Zhang,Xiuping Guo,Xianian Cheng,Ling Jiang,Chuanyin Wu,Haiyang Wang,Jianmin Wan +25 more
TL;DR: Molecular cloning and characterization of Bph3 are reported, a locus in rice identified more than 30 years ago that confers resistance to the brown planthopper, and it is suggested that these lectin receptor kinase genes function together to confer broad-spectrum and durable insect resistance.
Journal ArticleDOI
Days to heading 7, a major quantitative locus determining photoperiod sensitivity and regional adaptation in rice
He Gao,Mingna Jin,Xiaoming Zheng,Jun Chen,Yuan Dingyang,Yeyun Xin,Maoqing Wang,Dongyi Huang,Zhe Zhang,Kunneng Zhou,Peike Sheng,Jin Ma,Weiwei Ma,Huafeng Deng,Ling Jiang,Shijia Liu,Haiyang Wang,Chuanyin Wu,Longping Yuan,Jianmin Wan +19 more
TL;DR: This study identifies a major quantitative trait locus underlying photoperiod sensitivity in rice (DTH7), and demonstrates that various haplotype combinations of DTH7 with Grain number, plant height, and heading date 7 (Ghd7) and DTH8 correlate well with the flowering time and grain yield of rice varieties under diverse cultivating conditions.
Journal ArticleDOI
A role for a dioxygenase in auxin metabolism and reproductive development in rice.
Zhigang Zhao,Yunhui Zhang,Xi Liu,Xin Zhang,Shichang Liu,Xiaowen Yu,Yulong Ren,Xiaomin Zheng,Kunneng Zhou,Ling Jiang,Xiuping Guo,Ying Gai,Chuanyin Wu,Huqu Zhai,Haiyang Wang,Jianmin Wan +15 more
TL;DR: It is shown that recombinant DAO converts the active IAA into biologically inactive 2-oxoindole-3-acetic acid (OxIAA) in vitro, and this data support a key role of DAO in auxin catabolism and maintenance of auxin homeostasis central to plant reproductive development.
