Grisham +41 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a neutral beam injection (NBI) system was designed to provide plasma heating and current drive for high performance and long pulse operation of the Korean Superconducting Tokamak Advanced Research (KSTAR) device using two co-current beam injection systems.
Journal ArticleDOI
First neutral beam injection experiments on KSTAR tokamak.
Seung Ho Jeong,Doo-Hee Chang,Tae-Seong Kim,Sang Ryul In,Kwang Won Lee,Jung-Tae Jin,Dae-Sik Chang,Byung-Hoon Oh,Y. S. Bae,J.S. Kim,H. T. Park,Kazuhiro Watanabe,Takashi Inoue,Mieko Kashiwagi,Masayuki Dairaku,Hiroyuki Tobari,M. Hanada +16 more
TL;DR: In every deuterium NB injection, a burst of D-D neutrons was recorded, and increases in the ion temperature and plasma stored energy were found, and the edge pedestal formation in the T(i) and T(e) profiles was verified through CES and electron cyclotron emission diagnostics.
Journal ArticleDOI
Design of neutral beam injection system for KSTAR tokamak
Doo-Hee Chang,Sang-Ryul In,Kwang Won Lee,J.T. Jin,D.S. Chang,Seung Ho Jeong,B.H. Oh,Y.S. Bae,Young Min Park,H.L. Yang +9 more
TL;DR: The neutral beam injection (NBI-1) system as discussed by the authors was designed for providing a 300-s deuterium beam of 120kV/65A as an auxiliary heating and current drive system of the KSTAR (Korea Superconducting Tokamak Advanced Research) tokamak.
Journal ArticleDOI
Arc discharge efficiency of a multi-megawatt long pulse ion source for the KSTAR neutral beam injector
TL;DR: In this paper, a multi-megawatt long pulse ion source (LPIS) was developed for the Korea Superconducting Tokamak Advanced Research (KSTAR) neutral beam (NB) injector.
Journal ArticleDOI
Development of a plasma generator for a long pulse ion source for neutral beam injectors.
Kazuhiro Watanabe,Masayuki Dairaku,Hiroyuki Tobari,Mieko Kashiwagi,Takashi Inoue,M. Hanada,Seung Ho Jeong,Doo-Hee Chang,Tae-Seong Kim,B. R. Kim,C. S. Seo,Jung-Tae Jin,Kwang Won Lee,Sang Ryul In,Byung-Hoon Oh,J.S. Kim,Y. S. Bae +16 more
TL;DR: A long pulse test of the plasma generation up to 200 s with an arc discharge power of 70 kW has been successfully demonstrated and satisfies the requirement of the beam production for the KSTAR NBI.
