Journal ArticleDOI
Micromachining with a 50 W, 50 muJ, subpicosecond fiber laser system.
TL;DR: A 50 W sub-picosecond fiber chirped pulse amplification system generating 50 muJ pulses at a repetition rate of 1 MHz is demonstrated, required for precision high speed micro-machining.
Journal ArticleDOI
Laser action in Yb3+:YCOB (Yb3+:YCa4O(BO3)3)
D.A. Hammons,Jason M. Eichenholz,Q. Ye,Bruce H. T. Chai,Lawrence Shah,Robert E. Peale,Martin Richardson,H. Qiu +7 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors showed that infrared laser action in Yb 3 + :YCOB (Yb 3+ :YCa 4 O(BO 3 ) 3 ) is reported for the first time, achieving a maximum output power of ∼300 mW with a slope efficiency of 35.8%.
Journal ArticleDOI
Diode-pumped self-frequency doubling in a nd3+:yca4o(bo3)3 laser
Jason M. Eichenholz,D.A. Hammons,Lawrence Shah,Q. Ye,Robert E. Peale,Martin Richardson,Bruce H. T. Chai +6 more
TL;DR: In this article, a diode-pumped, self-frequency doubling (SFD) laser crystal Nd3+:YCa4O(BO3)3 was developed with a slope efficiency of 51%.
Journal ArticleDOI
Laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy of copper with a 2 μm thulium fiber laser
TL;DR: The first implementation of a 2 microm thulium fiber laser in a Laser-Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy system with low ablation fluence and 200 ns pulse duration leads to a plasma with neither continuum emission, nor air emission in the near-infrared region.
Journal ArticleDOI
Investigation of diode-pumped, self-frequency doubled RGB lasers from Nd:YCOB crystals
Q. Ye,Lawrence Shah,Jason M. Eichenholz,D.A. Hammons,Robert E. Peale,Martin Richardson,A. Chin,A. Chin,Bruce H. T. Chai +8 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a self-frequency doubling crystal was proposed for diode-pumped cw visible solid state laser in a simple hemispherical cavity, achieving 16 mW red cw laser at 666 nm from 5% Nd:YCOB crystal.
