Photocatalysis with Quantum Dots and Visible Light: Selective and Efficient Oxidation of Alcohols to Carbonyl Compounds through a Radical Relay Process in Water
Lei Min Zhao,Qing Yuan Meng,Xiang-Bing Fan,Chen Ye,Xu-Bing Li,Bin Chen,Vaidhyanathan Ramamurthy,Chen-Ho Tung,Li-Zhu Wu +8 more
TL;DR: The generality and selectivity reported here offer a new opportunity for further applications of CdSe quantum dot in organic transformations and high site-selectivity in polyhydroxy compounds.
Journal ArticleDOI
General and Efficient Intermolecular [2+2] Photodimerization of Chalcones and Cinnamic Acid Derivatives in Solution through Visible-Light Catalysis.
Tao Lei,Chao Zhou,Mao Yong Huang,Lei Min Zhao,Bing Yang,Chen Ye,Hongyan Xiao,Qing Yuan Meng,Vaidhyanathan Ramamurthy,Chen-Ho Tung,Li-Zhu Wu +10 more
TL;DR: This work reports a general and simple method to realize the intermolecular dimerization reaction of these acyclic olefins to construct cyclobutanes in a highly regio- and diastereoselective manner in solution under visible light, which provides an efficient solution to a long-standing problem.
Journal ArticleDOI
Visible-Light-Triggered Selective Intermolecular [2+2] Cycloaddition of Extended Enones: 2-Oxo-3-enoates and 2,4-Dien-1-ones with Olefins.
Lei Min Zhao,Tao Lei,Rong-Zhen Liao,Hongyan Xiao,Bin Chen,Vaidhyanathan Ramamurthy,Chen-Ho Tung,Li-Zhu Wu +7 more
TL;DR: The cycloaddition has been demonstrated to occur from the excited triplet state of these extended enones, which were generated via the energy transfer process and density functional theory calculations revealed the origin of high selectivity in the two extended enone systems.
